How To Wallpaper Your Stairs Risers
If you follow me on Instagram you are watching me wallpaper anything that doesn’t move at the moment (kidding.. not really). Have you ever considered wallpaper your stair risers? I had purchased a bunch of rolls of fun peel and stick wallpaper literally years ago. I intended on doing my stair risers and just never got around to it.
Partially I didn’t do it because I thought my husband might kill me but also I just was thinking “oh man I’m going to have to match up the pattern and it’s going to be too much of a pain.” Well I am here to tell you it is SO EASY!
How To Wallpaper Your Risers
1 – Measure how tall your riser is first
2 – Measure the same on your paper
3 – Cut the paper but leave about 1/2 inch extra just in case you are off or need extra to make the design look good.
4 – Take a look at the design and make sure it makes sense where you are cutting with how it will line up on the stairs.
5 – Do this for each of your stairs. The tricky part is matching the design but honestly it wasn’t that bad. You just find a point where it lines up and start from there and work your way down on the stairs.
6 – Pull the backing on the wallpaper and then lay out the paper on the riser and use something flat to smooth it out. It’s easy to pull it off and reposition it if it doesn’t go on the perfect the first time.
7 – Once everything is on your can take a razor blade and trim up the extra paper.
Why Should You Wallpaper Your Stairs?
#1 It’s easy and it makes a BIG impact.
#2 It peels right off so if you hate it in a year who cares vs. if you paint your risers it’s a hassle to touch them up or sand them down.
#3 It’s cheap!
Where Do You Get Cool Wallpaper?
