Leveraging Gorgeous Neutral Paint Colors
If you’re selling your home the easiest way to freshen up a house is to find the perfect paint colors for selling your home. The neutral paint colors work the best. This is one of the cheapest ways to brighten your space and get it ready for potential buyers. Depending on the size of your home this might be quite a project, but you can always start small and focus on the big impact places! Make the entry way look perfect with a fresh coat, then on to the kitchen where people spend lot of time and lastly the master bedroom!
If you’ve just bought your home or are still looking, you may want to update it a bit just for you. Sometimes your seller may choose not to repaint, so you’ll need to do the freshen up yourself! Don’t worry -painting before you unpack everything makes it super easy. So take advantage of this time without everything perfectly set up, and paint while rooms are semi-empty!
Scroll my Favorite Neutral Paint Colors in Action!
There are a ton of really great neutral paint colors on the market, but we certainly have our favorites. These colors will work in almost any home and any room. They are my go to’s when I’m helping my sellers prep or when working with design clients! So if you’re ready to get started I always suggest buying a sample of each color you like. Then just pop on home, paint up a few boards, or even just swatches on the wall and then watch the color for a few days! You’ll notice that during different times of they day the colors will change just a little based on how the light moves through your home. You might find that one works better in your space than others!
But FIRST, what is LVR and why do I care about it?
A color’s Light Reflectance Value (LRV) measures the amount of visible and usable light that reflects from (or absorbs into) a painted surface. LRV measures the percentage of light a paint color reflects. LRV is measured on a scale that ranges from zero (absolute black, absorbing all light and heat) to 100 percent (pure white, reflecting all light).
Knowing a color’s LRV is helpful when coordinating colors or creating a mood. It also helps businesses, schools, and homes stay energy efficient – choosing a color with a larger LRV probably won’t require as much lighting or air conditioning as a color that soaks up light and warms easily.
And now a handful of my go to paint colors for your home. These colors are easy go to selections to freshen up a space.
Light Pewter by Benjamin Moore -LRV: 68.39
This is a Classic Color guarantee beautiful, usable color all the time, every time. Easy to use in almost any space and gives a nice contrast with trim work.
White Dove by Benjamin Moore -LRV: 85.38
Unerring style defines this classic, softly shaded white. Light and luminous, it is a favorite choice for moldings and trim. It can be used on the walls in a flat and then trim in semi gloss for contract. It’s great for kitchen cabinets + vanities as well.
Silver Tradition by Behr – LRV: 69
I LOVE this color. It is a light grey that looks amazing everywhere. It has a cool undertone but looks great in any room with any light.
Swiss Coffee by Dunn Edwards – LRV 83
This is a pretty white that has some warmth to it so not too stark!
Soft Chamois by Benjamin Moore – LRV: 78.94
This color is part of the Off-White Color collection. Inherently sophisticated and endlessly versatile, the Off-White collection offers subtle nuances of whites that suit tranquil, serene environments as well as creates color-enhancing accents for dynamic spaces. A compilation of 152 white and off-white colors. I find this to be an “off white” oe “cream” without the yellow.
Agreeable Gray by Sherwin Williams – LRV:60
Cloud White by Benjamin Moore – LRV: 87.35
Lightweight and luminous, this subtle, sophisticated shade of soft white is reminiscent of vapor clouds on a clear day
