If you follow me on Instagram stories you know that I was Lime washing our brick house the other weekend. We have been talking about it for YEARS and then I read this great blog post by Young House Love. They went for a full cover look and I wanted a more aged look basically so that if it did wear off then no big deal. Plus I like the texture in the Lime wash application I think it adds more depth and interest.
So how did this happen? Well I googled the paint that the YHL folks used and found out you could buy the Lime wash at Home Depot …so then I had my handy hubby pick up a sample to “test”. I started the test on this run down brick fire pit in the back yard…then I moved to the side of the house…then I got brave and moved to the FRONT of the house….at some point there was just no turning back. We are still working on the sides and back of the house.
This is what we bought at HD. The application was easy and I’ll be posting more tutorials on this on the blog, IG + FB but here is the quick and dirty pictures of the process so far! Next on the punch list is….
- Shutters
- New landscaping
- A split rail fence
- cleaning up the steps/ walkway
- oh yes and finishing the painting on the sides and back of the house!
Always so much to do……
My kiddos loved “helping out” …. ha!
