This week’s guest post comes courtesy of a very fabulous blogger and furniture painter, Kelly of The Lily Pad Cottage. Kelly lives on a lake in lovely Michigan with her husband and two beautiful children (and adorable pup). Kelly’s blog, The Lily Pad Cottage, is her corner of the internet to share all things creative – from painting to DIY projects, recipes and stories of life with kids.

Kelly’s project comes straight from her super fun and funny blog. In her post she shares stories of growing up spending summers in her grandparents’ cottage on a lake outside of Chicago with her whole family. The piece she’s sharing with us today is in this cottage and was in need of some updating.

Here is the before picture of the dresser.

Kelly’s Aunt and Uncle now spend their summers at the cottage and she and her Aunt decided the master bedroom needed some lightening up with brighter colors.

“This place is still full of antiques and vintage goodies and I had the best time taking a trip down memory lane giving my Aunt some decorating advice.  There are so many good pieces of furniture in this house that just need a little love…and paint,” said Kelly.

Kelly chose to paint this piece with Chalk Paint by Annie Sloan in Greek Blue. She also used a little dark wax over the top to achieve a distressed look.

Here is the AMAZING after picture of the dresser.

Wow, right? It looks like a completely different dresser and we just love what she did with Greek Blue.
