Like most people, we at Stylish Patina are huge fans of Chip and Joanna from Fixer Upper. And based on this latest Before & After submission, we think DIYer Nancy might be too. Nancy has taken two of our Chalk Paint classes and has become a full blown addict, even playing around with different techniques and washes. But for this project, she decided to try out Pioneer Wood. For those of you who have never heard of or used it, it’s an incredible, user friendly product that rapidly ages wood to give it that weathered, barn wood kind of a look. Keep scrolling to see the Fixer Upper style makeover from Nancy!
Nancy has been working to redo her house, and decided it was finally time to tackle her fireplace with the help of her daughters Daria and Carly.
Nancy and her daughters cut down oak boards to give the fireplace a ship lap look. Once all the boards were up, they were then sanded down to a smooth finish. She then applied the Pioneer Wood to the boards and left them to sit for 24 hours.
She was left with a beautiful, aged wood look that adds so much character that still feels up-to-date and contemporary.
The final step of this process was to seal the boards using Annie Sloan’s white wax. As you can see, they loved it so much that they carried the finish over to the barn door. What a creative Before & After! It looks great!
Do you have any Before & Afters you would be willing to share? We love featuring the work of talented customers like Nancy and would love for you to be next!
