For those of you who missed us at our Make it Take it Booth at the Capital Home Show, we are here to tell you about how easy it is to give your kitchen cabinets or bathroom vanities a facelift with Chalk Paint® by Annie Sloan. Let’s face it, kitchen remodels are expensive, time consuming, and completely disruptive. Plus, sometimes when the existing cabinets are in good shape and are already a high quality, it’s even harder to justify ripping them out. Here’s where Chalk Paint comes in…

First, like all other Chalk Paint projects, there is almost no prep work before you start painting your cabinets. All you have to do is clean them (you’d be surprised how grease builds up) and remove the hardware. We always recommend removing the cabinet doors, but make sure you take a second to number them. You’d be amazed at how particular cabinet doors can be once they’ve settled into their places.

Once the surface has completely dried, you’re ready to get painting! For most projects, it takes about two coats of paint. Keep in mind, this can change depending on the color you choose and the color you are painting over! Check out Annie Sloan’s new video on painting kitchen cabinets for more information.
