We feel so blessed to have gone under contract after just putting our house on the market on Tuesday!  This is a huge relief since we are under contract for the new house already.  The plan is we will close on the new house early August and start renovations and then close on our home at the end of August and hopefully move into the new house.  The home inspection on the new house went off without much of an issue so we are full steam ahead.

I’m fully planning that the kitchen will not be installed when we move in but hopefully the basics will be done.  They say many twins come around 35 weeks and that for us will be the week of Sept 15th, my goal is to at least get us & our furniture in the new house by early September in case they decide to come before our planned 38 week c-section.

The Kitchen Gut Job!

This will be my 3rd personal renovation project all of them have been from head to toe.  For each one I have used the same kitchen folks, NVS Kitchen & Bath.  Luckily Susan was able to come out and measure the kitchen at our home inspection so we could start on the design now and decided on the finishes.  Here are a few inspiration pictures I am considering for the kitchen. We will be taking out the bulk heads and cabinets will go to the ceiling and the kitchen will be open there will not be a divider with the cabinetry.

The kitchen cabinets will most likely be white or a combination of white & grey.

Next week I should have the layout to share with you and hopefully this weekend I will get close to selecting many of the finishes for the kitchen so they can be ready to order!

  1. Congratulations on the sale so quickly. Sounds like the kitchen will be fabulous.

Way to go on selling your house!

I really like those gray cabinets. The inset style is very nice. Farm sink, too. We have the 36″ Shaw sink and I really have enjoyed it.

  3. This is so exciting! I just completed a kitchen design story for Bethesda Magazine, which will be out in Sept, so I’ve had kitchens on the brain all summer. I LOVE your idea of the blue ceiling, which is the classic treatment for a front porch. Best of luck with house and babies! — Jennifer Sergent
