Today’s Before + After is by one of our Chalk Paint addicts, Hannah, who lives right here in Alexandria, Virginia.  This project is close to my heart since it’s a nursery and I am knee deep in babies these days!  We asked our reader a little bit about her DIY obsessions and this project and this is what she had to say…..

I live in Alexandria and have been Annie Sloan obsessed for three years now (I joke that I have run out of things in my house to paint!). I love to pick up pieces from Craigslist or repurpose our own furniture and I have so far painted a kitchen hutch, two cabinets, armoire, two bar chairs, two side tables, a desk, and two dressers (all using the same four paint cans of old white, country grey, duck egg blue, and graphite – this stuff goes a long way!). It’s my creative outlet and I love having one of a kind items in my home.

I am expecting my first child (a little boy) in early March, and I knew I wanted to do a special project for the nursery. My husband found a cabinet on Craigslist that he loved and thought would be good for storing books and toys for the baby room. I let the original piece sit for awhile and waited for inspiration to hit. One day I went to the fabric store to choose fabric for curtains (another DIY project for the room), and fell in love with a chevron print. I decided to try and incorporate the chevron into my project – it was such a pain to figure out how to do an even chevron pattern, but I finally figured out how to do it. I used country grey for the base and duck egg blue for the print. The rest of the cabinet I painted in graphite. My husband wanted something handsome and not too French countryside for the baby’s room, and I already had a dresser painted in graphite and duck egg blue – so the theme of the nursery was created! We have added a grey crib to match and will be making final touches with artwork, but I love how it is all coming together.

Take a look at before + after pictures of this fabulous project!
