It’s been a while since I gave you all an update about our sweet little terrors I mean adorable angel twins, Peyton & Liam:-) I am just kidding they are doing just great and enjoying keeping mommy up and depriving her of her much needed beauty sleep. They are 12 weeks now (when I started this post they were 9 weeks that is how far behind I am!) and getting bigger by the day. Our girl Peyton (13lbs) is still bigger than her brother Liam. I am hoping that he will catch up in time he is gaining weight (12lbs) and length. Peyton rules the roost and is going to be the “big sister” of the two of them I think. She is more advanced with pretty much everything. I have heard this is pretty normal for the larger twin and the girl (As I type this she is squawking in her crib because she doesn’t want to take a nap).
It has been a whirl wind the last 3 months and those early mornings and late nights that I retrieve them from their cribs for a feeding, diaper change or just to sooth them I try to relish the moments and enjoy them instead of rushing through to get back to bed. It’s hard to not wish away these emotional, mental and physically exhausting first few months but I am trying my best. I’m better at it on the days I have someone helping me at the house. Thank goodness for family and friends that come over to bring me a cup of Starbucks, feed me food and hold a baby. You know who you are and I am eternally grateful, those are the days I think “I can do this it’s going to get easier.” And in reality is has gotten easier in just the last couple weeks.
3 months really is looking like a turning point. They both smile a lot and are cooing and seriously a little bit of that will get you through the day. We started doing some nap training during the day and that is going ok and I feel like we are making progress. The difference with a single baby and two is that most of the time they both don’t go down that easy so my girl usually squawks and ends up in the swing after 30 minutes but hey it’s a process. They are getting so big it’s hard to believe that they are only 3 months old.
The 2014 holiday season was a blur – Halloween I barely remember, Thanksgiving lasted all of an hour but Christmas was lovely. I didn’t buy one Christmas gift not a single one (not like me at all) I just didn’t have the time to even order them online. However, this Christmas was filled with the presents you don’t buy lots of love and great family time. We had all of our family over to our new house and my brother and hubby cooked up a fabulous feast. Everyone brought something for dinner and we spent the day relaxing, talking, eating, drinking and holding babies. I think my brother said it best when we were sitting at the table after dinner he turned me and said ” You know it was a good Christmas when everyone is having a wonderful time and not one present was opened.”
This is our new life filled with crying babies, poopy diapers, giggles, smiles and a lack of sleep. After five years of trying to start a family we now have a big crazy mess of one. Most days are exhausting but worth the effort. It’s true motherhood is the hardest job you will ever have. It never ends and I don’t think you understand that until you are living the 24/7 365 days a year grind. I hired a wonderful nanny finally part time so I am looking forward to getting a bit of time back to refocus on the business we have lots of exciting plans for 2015 for Stylish Patina & Rough Luxe, be sure to follow along on the blog and Facebook. I hope you all had a wonderful holiday! Here are a few pictures of the kids……
