The painters are finishing up the paint on main floor and upstairs this weekend and then the basement begins. I wanted to give you a recap of the colors I have used. Eventually I’ll share pretty pictures of the house but for now these have to do!
On the main floor in the foyer and hallway leading into our bedroom we are using BM (Benjamin Moore) Gray Owl. I have also used this color in the smaller bedroom upstairs it looks beautiful. An important note they color matched this at Sherwin Williams and it came out much more green than it should have. The color is very pretty so it’s fine for the house but not the true color.
We opened the wall between the living room and formal dining and both rooms are painted BM Soft Chamois. I LOVE this color, I think it’s me favorite neutral in the cream family. It doesn’t have much yellow is any in it and is just crisp and airy.
In the nursery, the landing area on the 2nd floor I have the walls painted BM Classic Gray and the Ceilings are painted Silver Gray just for fun! I am doing a similar color combo for the kitchen as well. The kitchen walls will be classic gray but I might change up the ceiling blue a bit…this is TBD. The color match on the BM Classic Gray at Sherman Williams (SW) as well was a bit deeper of a color that from BM so again be careful with color matching.
In our master bedroom, the mudroom, the 2nd upstairs bedroom and the basement is all in Behr Silver Tradition. I just love this color, it neutral, crisp & clean. It can have a pretty blue undertone depending on the light. Every time I use it I love it more.
All of the ceilings & trim are done in BM Chantilly Lace. It’s a nice clean modern white.
I used egg shell finish throughout the house on the walls, semi gloss on the trim and doors and flat on the ceilings. We were lucky that our walls were in great shape so the slight sheen on the egg shell works on our walls but if your walls aren’t in great shape flat is a better option and easier for touch up. I like the washability of egg shell with 4 dogs and 2 kids on the way.
I am now tackling light fixtures and pretty soon the floors will be stained!

We have Classic Gray in our living room, halls and foyer/stairwell. And we just had Gray Owl painted in our new kitchen, new mudroom and sunroom on Saturday! We color matched to SW too, but didn’t think to compare once they were on the walls. We love both! Cumulous Cloud (BM) is a great, slightly darker accent for Classic Gray if you’re looking for one.
I’m enjoying watching the progress – it’s so exciting to see the changes!
Pictures please I’ve renovated my house and used soft chamois almost everywhere thinking of using grey owl in entry and kitchen , entry is south kitchen is north facing – if you have any photos please post 🙂

Classic gray master bedroom looks wonderful. Carpets, windows, light and wall frames too good and keep up the good work.
