This week’s feature is from Annie’s Painter in Residence Jeanie Simpson!

We absolutely love this tall colorful desk by Jeanie. You can find her on Instagram just by typing @jeanius_reloved.This colorful tall desk was featured on Annie Sloan’s inspiration page!  This is one of her first projects while being apart of Annie’s in Residence. Annie Sloan also posted this picture on her Instagram, all you need to do is search @anniesloanhome on Insta!

Jeanie painted the desk first with Chalk Paint® in Graphite to act as a dark, blank canvas and drew her dramatic design on top with a pencil.  Next, Jeannie painted the design using Chalk Paint® in Old White and Florence, mixed with a dash of English Yellow.

Over the Art Deco design, Jeanie used a little bit of Olive, English Yellow, and Old White to give a copper look. Once dry she took sandpaper to the tall desk to distress it slightly. Distressing is one of my favorite things to do when I create DIYs. Distressing adds an old vintage look to any piece of furniture.

The piece was finished in all colors of Chalk Paint Wax® by Annie Sloan; first, a coat of Chalk Paint Clear Wax was used, then Chalk Paint Dark Wax on the green sections of the bureau, followed by a mix of White and Black Wax on the darker grey sections. The whole piece was finished again in Clear Wax to protect it from any damages!
