Industrial style draws inspiration from converted warehouses to chic urban lofts with high ceilings and a sense of rawness. You will often find exposed brick, concrete, duct work and large wood plank floors. Industrial style frequently either incorporates metal through its hardscape, lighting, or furnishings.
Industrial Color Palette
Spaces done with industrial style in mind stick to a mostly neutral color palette of grey, black, brown and natural wood tones. Brighter accent colors, such as yellow or orange, can be used to add interest to the space, but should be used sparingly.
Even if you don’t have a warehouse-type space or a chic loft, you can still create a sense of industrial style by bringing in certain elements. Industrial spaces often incorporate lots of raw materials, like wood and metal. Jolie Finishing Wax can be applied to raw wood pieces to bring out the natural character of the wood. Try using Black or Brown wax as a stain to darken wood pieces.
For painted items, apply a washed finish to highlight natural wood grains and give pieces a weathered feel, or a distressed finish for a time-worn look.
