It’s Thursday and time for another reader / customers before & after project. This past weekend we had our monthly Rough Luxe Market and Amy got chatting with the girls and my mom about her amazing (and very large) kitchen refresh project with our beloved Chalk Paint by Annie Sloan. She was kind enough to share her story and pictures with us today!
*** Take it away Amy….
This was the very first Annie Sloan project for me! I live an old farmhouse, and the kitchen was the original log cabin part of the house. The cabinets were a dark pine, as you can see and the kitchen does not get a lot of natural light. I had been wanting to redo the cabinets for sometime. Finally, after many visits to Stylish Patina and lots of reading on the Annie Sloan website and various posts on Pinterest by others, I tested 2 doors from a spice cabinet that I had removed from the kitchen. That experience led me to an additional step of shellac before I actually painted.
This project turned out to take 85 plus hours of cleaning, one coat of shellac, 3 coats of Old White, distressing and 2 coats of clear wax. I had originally intended to use the dark wax as well, but ultimately decided against it. I love the finished look and have had lots of compliments on it. Hope my story inspires your blog readers! You have a great store and I look forward to returning to Stylish Patina when I decide on my next project! – Amy
