This week’s Before & After is brought to you by Tricia, one of our “Painters in Residence.” Tricia is a full blown Chalk Paint/Milk Paint addict who’s love for vintage furniture has started to get out of hand! But somehow, when she finds a piece that speaks to her, she always manages to find a spot… Check out her latest score!

I found this cute little faux bamboo table at a local thrift store for $30.00 and I loved its unique tripod look. It was in good condition, with no wobbliness or cracks in the legs. I am a sucker for the bamboo look and I knew I had to take it home, even if I had no idea of where it would go.

It took me a while to decide on the color and choose the look I was going for. Did I want a bright bold color or a neutral? Finally, I landed on Coco. Because I had not yet decided where it would go (it’s too high to be a coffee table, too large for an end table), I thought Coco would transition well as I moved it around to find the perfect spot for it.

I opted for a classic, full coverage look, so I painted two light coats of Coco then a third watered down. Once that was fully dry, I applied a clear wax as usual, waited twenty four hours and applied a second. I like to do this on table tops when I know they will get a lot of traffic. While the second coat of wax was soft, I applied my dark wax. On the “joints” in the bamboo, I left the dark wax to sit a little longer for a more dramatic look. I love how it turned out!

This piece looks great! We love how the dark wax accentuated the bamboo legs. It looks a million times better!
