Welcome to Colorful Monday! Today I am going to share with you a before & after project I did today in the shop. We had this adorable solid wood console table with amazing carving. When I find items like this I usually wait a few weeks and see if anyone wants to purchase them as is, since the natural wood is gorgeous.
This little guy hadn’t sold yet so I couldn’t wait to get my little chalk paint hands on her! I got so excited I almost forgot to take the before picture (you can see I started to paint her).
This project was much more of a creative endeavor vs. a traditional chalk paint project so I will share the steps I did with you.
1 – Lightly cover the console table in Coco Chalk Paint® focusing on the carved areas of the piece.
2 – Take Old White Chalk Paint and lightly cover the piece, not fully covering all of the wood, I wanted to leave some exposed wood (less distressing later) as well as some of the Coco color. I love the layering and depth of the two Chalk paint colors as well as the natural wood.
3- Went back over the carved areas of the piece with my Coco Chalk Paint brush just to ad additional dimension.
4- I used a sanding sponge to the lightly distress the craved areas and edges as well as smooth out the top.
5 – Apply Annie Sloan clear wax with a large wax brush.
Here are a few final pictures and you can come and see it in person in the shop! You can buy Chalk Paint in our shop and online and we can ship it to you!
Oh, my. No question about it. This piece is much more beautiful in its new incarnation.
I LOVE Coco. It sucks me in. I’d love to see this in person.
In the meanwhile, great job!
Wow – all I can say is wow!! Wish I lived near you!
