We have made some serious progress this weekend at the new house.  Friday we had the fence company (we used Hal Co) come out and tear out the existing chain link fence and build up a privacy fence for our four dogs (and us).  In the front of the house on the right side we decided to put a double wide fence so that James could get larger items in and out of the yard.  This was something he wanted to do at our existing house and we didn’t due to the way our yard sloped.  This yard is nice and flat so we went for it.

On the left side of the house we did a regular door which leads to a wonderful brick walkway into the back yard.  The double wide fence door came in real handy today when hubby and the landscaping crew drove in our ’76 Ford truck to haul out all the debris and they used Ira to pull stumps out of the ground!  We haven’t touched the front of the house yet …. that will come in the spring. See more pictures of the progress on our house renovation on the Facebook page.

Yes I’m sure many of you are wondering why we didn’t leave more plants in the yard but honestly the quality of the plants weren’t great.  We made the executive decision to clear it out and gradually start over.  We wanted to take advantage of planting grass in September.  Much of the yard really needs to be tilled and new grass planted.  We did this in our existing yard over a few years and it gave us a lovely backyard.

The one odd thing we found was there are a ton of cement pavers and bricks throughout the yard that grass and weeds have grown over.  Sunday we will take a closer look at what we are dealing with in regards to that….ahh fun!

Monday the wall paper starts coming down and painting begins so look for a blog post on colors and the progress.  Kitchen demo and opening the walls start as well this week so it’s going to be exciting.  Keep updated on our new house renovation on the blog and at our Facebook page.
