As many of you know if you have read the “about us” section of the blog or been reading for a while I was born and raised in Falls Church where I have a dealer space in Stifel & Capra {260 West Broad Street}. Growing up I never thought I’d live in the town I was raised in but I love it. Even before I establish Stylish Patina it was a dream to open a little shop in Falls Church/Arlington, Va. A place where folks could come by for a little break from reality and find unique and inspiring ideas to make their house a home.
I have an eclectic style and I enjoy mixing old and new elements and wanted to share this with others. I have been shopping in Leesburg and the Old Lucketts Store since before it was “hip” and dreamed of bring a little bit of that inside the beltway.
I feel extremely lucky that Theresa Stifel the owner of Stifel & Capra in Falls Church welcomed me into her shop full of amazing {mainly women} artists and business owners. She gave me a home to share the vintage furnishings, home decor elements and gift items that Stylish Patina offers. My little business has grown rapidly and I’m grateful to all of you that read the blog, buy Annie Sloan paint products, shop at Stylish Patina, attend refresh classes and have hired me to refresh furniture for your homes. There is no greater compliment than being apart of making a house a home for a family or individual.
Here is a link to the online article from the Falls Church News Press, it’s not a fancy paper but since I was born and raised in Falls Church its special for me and my family. I asked the reporter to make sure to use my maiden name {Millspaugh} so my dad & mom could be proud parents. The article is in this weeks edition that comes out on Thursday {tomorrow}. Hope to see you at the barn sale this weekend! Thanks once again for all your support and stay tuned as the business continues to evolve.
P.S. There is a reason why Ira is my profile picture I hate having my picture taken but now if you have not met me in person you know what I look like! My mom of course said when she heard they took my picture “I hope you washed your hair & didn’t have a hat on!”
theresa stifel rocks! love her store and love your furniture!
Thank you!
You’re becoming a local celebrity, Kelly. And it’s so nice to have a face to go with the name, the beautiful furniture, and our e-mail exchanges. Congratulations on all your success!
