This weeks transformation is from Just Life and Coffe with Virginia. Virginia is a coffee lover and a stay at home momma! Virginia created her blog as a way to not only share her life but all the amazing resources!!

“My heart’s desire is to inspire and encourage you busy stay-at-home mom’s out there to find creative outlets for yourselves, especially smack dab in the middle of those exhausting (yet incredibly precious) baby-making, toddler chasing years. If I can do that, then I’ll consider my blog a success.” – Virginia

Virginia transformed her Bathroom Vanity. She used Annie Sloan Chalk Paint® in Old White to make her vanity look brand new! Virginia shares that she has always wanted to redesign her bathroom vanity. She was thrilled when she had the opportunity to transform it. She shares that the transformation only took about 3 hours of work but was drawn out into almost 2 weeks. Virginia painted the mirror about a year ago and she shares that she was not a big fan of the mirror so she wasn’t sure how to paint it. Virginia finally found the time to start painting and she couldn’t have been happier with the results!

Here were Virginia’s Steps in recreating her Vanity

(1) She simply removed the hardware and cleaned really well in all the nooks and crannies using warm water and dawn soap.

(2) She taped up the walls around the vanity to keep from painting on them

(3) Poured the Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Old White into a cup, got my paintbrush and was she was ready to go in less than 20 minutes

(4) This is optional but she added a teaspoon of water to the paint for the second coat, it helps the brush movements be swift.

(5) Virginia applied a quick third coat just in certain areas where the dark wood still seemed to be visible

Meanwhile, I spray painted my hardware with Rust-Oleum Metallic Oil Rubbed Bronze

(7) Finally, Virginia applied Annie Sloan Clear Wax and immediately followed with Annie Sloan Dark Wax to give that aged effect and tone down the brightness!

Annie Sloan Chalk Paint® is very fun and easy to use!

It’s true NO PRIMING, NO SANDING!  Annie Sloan developed her now famous Chalk Paint® to answer the need she had for a paint which would have many uses from acting like whitewashing to looking like old painted furniture, and that had a good range of color that could be extended by the user. This paint is very easy to work with and allows people to be creative as one doesn’t get involved with the technicalities of preparation and it also allows you to change your mind without hassle.

Add a little water to it to make it smooth, thicken it up by leaving the lid off if you want to make it thicker, make it into a wash by adding even more water to it. Use flat brushes for a smooth look or bristle brushes for a more textured aged look.
