200 2 months 2 babies

I thought I’d give you a little update on our twin pregnancy.  Things seem to be moving along without to many complications other than the fact that I am really feeling how big I am getting.  Ugh…bending down and picking things up is becoming a chore, sitting isn’t even comfortable.  I am half way through my 31st week.  They are hoping to keep them in there until 38 weeks but many twins come at 35 weeks.  It’s so funny I know 3 other couples having twins, 2 of them have delivered.  It’s been fun watching them and hopefully learning from them too!

Everyone says I’m not that big, it sure feels like it and the scale is definitely showing the weight gain.  Those babies aren’t lacking for extra pounds believe me!  The big changes this week have been swelling. I was really hoping that I was going to get away without any swelling but no such luck this week it showed up in the hands and feet.  I find if I lay down on my side it helps to reduce it but boy oh boy no fun!  And my new best friends are my running shoes, usually I live in flip flops but the last week or two I realized my feet and legs needed some help carrying around all that weight.

So far they have not put me on bed rest yet and if I don’t have any high blood pressure issues (fingers crossed) I think they will let me keep a moderate activity level.  I do try and take a 30 min walk a day in the neighborhood and then work but usually around 3/4 each day I notice my body telling me it’s time to take a break so I camp on my side and work on the computer.

I can’t wait until next week is over. We will be in the new house (see updated on the house here) and although we will be without a kitchen and they will still be working on it we will at least be starting to get settled into our new home and I can lay around more if necessary.

** Follow along with the progress of our 2 months, 2 babies, 1 house blog series here.  Be sure to check back this week or on Facebook to see the progress I am posting daily pictures on our FB page and Instagram!

I think you look great! You look so skinny with just a big tummy. I hope you can hang in there. My twins came only 4 weeks early. I had started retain too much water. But they were healthy weighing 7 lbs 2 oz and 6 lbs 8 oz. When I look back at photos, it amazes me that I had these two baby boys tucked in my tummy. I’m short waisted so there wasn’t a lot of room. They are now 18 years old but it seems like they were babies only yesterday. Enjoy every moment!!!

Hang in there! The new home is looking great too.

Congrats on your twins! It will be an adventure. My twins were 3 weeks early as they were 7 lbs 7oz and 7 lbs 2 oz. We just ran out of room. My waist was 60″ around and my oldest daughter could no longer sit in my lap.
As the mother of twins that will turn 21 next month, I am looking back. There were challenges, but many moments of sheer joy. Be kind to yourself. I think that mothers of twins are hard on themselves; that we hold ourselves to a much higher standard. If I could talk to my new mother self of 21 years past, I would her that she doesn’t have to be supermom, to loosen up and ask for help and to enjoy this wonderful, crazy ride. Just like a roller coaster ride, it will be over far too soon and your little ones will be off into the world. Best of luck to you.
