We came across a really beautiful DIY furniture transformation this week and we’re super excited to share the details of it with you! This pretty dresser is an example of how a little paint can make a HUGE difference to your furniture! I feel like everyone has one of these old, clunky dressers out in the storage, or tucked away in a bedroom where you don’t want to look at it. Don’t worry though, with a little paint -it can become seriously beautiful again! You can paint any old dresser with Jolie paint, so take a look around and start a new DIY project this weekend!
How do you go about using Jolie Paint on your dresser?
Simple! First you’ll need some paint. Pop into the store, or order your paint online along with any other supplies you might need! This dresser was painted using Jolie’s Paint in Legacy. Next, we find it easier to paint when you pull out all the drawers. Since Jolie’s paint is non-toxic and low-voc’s, you can paint indoors or out, so make space wherever you like! If you plan to replace the hardware or want to paint it, you may choose to remove them at this point.
Guess what’s NOT next… Sanding! Yup, with Jolie Paint there is no need to sand your furniture before you start. So, pop the top on your paint and get started! The paint dries fairly quickly and depending on the look you’re going for you can apply mulitple coats in just little time.
For this dresser they decided to refinish the hardware using Jolie’s Gold Gilding Wax. Once you apply this there is no further steps needed, so set aside your hardware and wait for your paint to dry! The gilding wax is super easy to apply, we often use our fingers, but you can also use a brush. A little bit goes a long way -so you’ll love the touch of glam this gives with very little effort! Another fun way to use the gilding wax is to add touches of it to the edges of molding!
What about protecting your newly painted dresser?
This is the last -and easy- step! For this dresser, they used a first layer of Jolie’s Clear Wax to spruce up the shine. Next, an added a layer of Jolie’s White Wax was used to bring out a lighter tone. Jolie Paints also makes finishing waxes in brown and black too. These are perfect if you’re looking to add a deeper tone, or get a more vintage feel to your piece. No matter which you choose, just grab a cloth, add bit of wax and start spreading it onto your dresser. Jolie’s Wax produces a beautiful matte finish, but you can also buff it after you’re done to bring out a little sheen!
We’re pretty obsessed with Jolie Paints over here. They’re easy to use, quick, safe around family and pets, and honestly.. beautiful! We carry over 40 colors of Jolie Paint in the shop. As well as all of the tools you’ll need to get started on your project. Ready to start painting your dresser with Jolie Paint?
