I love the color of natural patina and am always looking for a color combo that gives me that type of feel. Today’s post is about an evolution of a buffet and an experimentation in color with Chalk Paint™ by Annie Sloan.
I bought this beat up buffet and had it in the SP Barn the other day as I was setting for our month sale in September. I was thinking I would paint in Lamp Black by General Finishes and make it very chippy and antiqued. Then I started looking around in the barn as I was setting for the sale and had a desire to give it a little more funk. I started digging through my chalk paint colors to see what I had with me. The night before I had been playing with the color florence on a mirror. When my mom {aka COO} saw it she commented on how much she liked the color so I said what the heck lets have a little fun.
I pulled out my florence and graphite chalk paint and started playing around with the color mixture against the black top I had already done on the buffet. I was really loving it….no it won’t be for everyone but the person that does take this Anthropologie inspired buffet home will love it.
I loved this color so much I decided to paint the front door of the barn my personal color mix of “Patina” {Chalk Paint™ Florence & Graphite}. Hope to see you at the SP Barn this weekend {sept 21-23, 10-5pm each day!} get directions here. Happy painting!
girl, you KNOW I love love love this! I can only paint so many piece grey, old white, ochre, or black before I MUST go a little crazy with color (OK, I have been a LOT crazy lately!) This rocks, your door rocks, YOU ROCK!
Michele I knew we were like minded:-) Only so much neutral you can do before you just have to get a little funky!
Wow! Looks fab. I’m laughing here as the last two tins of Annie Sloan I’ve bought are ….graphite and florence! Love the florence but think it is amazing toned down with the graphite. Thanks for sharing and for the inspiration to be brave!
Looks like you need to play with a little mixing liz!!!
The color turned out awesome on your buffet ~ LOVE it!!
