Today we are featuring a Before + After from Anita in Richmond, Virginia!

Here is a little bit about Anita and her project.  “I was a working mother, owned my own business, then retired with way too much time on my hands! I love redoing, remaking and recreating sad little furniture into fun useful happy little creations. I volunteer at a nonprofit thrift store in Richmond, Va., and this funny yet pathetic painted dresser was almost rejected as too ugly, but I took it home, and helped this chest find a loving new future. Plus, it helps the thrift raise money for our supporting charities when it sold!”

And this is what she did to get the chest spiffed up for sale!

This chest was missing hardware, and little bright- the red took two coats of Kilz Paint before I could begin to think about a color. I always lightly sand first, and had to pop off some wooded pieces glued to cover holes from previous hardware- oh my- but once the red and yellow were painted white, my palate was wide open. I had some fun painting purple and gold leopard spots on the sides of the drawers. I used Annie Sloan Old Fashioned White and Duck Egg Blue the drawer sides were painted with acrylic paints- and the gold was gold leaf paint.- I added the embellishment to add glitz, and beautiful hardware.
